Frequently asked

Straight answers.

Four sections — the tips, the billing, the method, and responsible gambling. If anything below reads like corporate waffle, tell us and we’ll fix it.

The tips

The tips

How many tips do I get each Saturday?

Whatever the model gates through — typically 3 to 7 Best Bets across the day's metro and provincial meetings, all in the $3 to $12 price band where the model has form. No daily cap. If a meeting has no qualifying runners, you get nothing for that meeting, not filler. Empty cards are a feature.

What time do tips arrive?

Published Saturday around 7am AEST, in your inbox and your dashboard at the same time. Occasionally we hold a late release if track conditions flip on race morning — you'll still have them well before first race.

What's actually in each tip?

The runner, our model's fair-price estimate, the TAB market price at publish time, a bet type (win or each-way), a unit size, the walk-away price below which the bet is pulled, and the model reasons that surfaced the pick. The percentage edge column is hidden on v2 picks because the engine is uncalibrated — we don't publish numbers we don't trust. No star ratings, no mystique.

What meetings do you cover?

Australian thoroughbred Saturdays — metro and provincial cards across NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, and WA. No greyhounds, no harness, no international meetings. Wednesday and other midweek cards may be added later once the Saturday record earns the right.

Do you run on every single Saturday?

Yes, subject to the gate. If none of the Saturday runners qualify as a Best Bet, nothing ships — and that no-ship is logged publicly too, so the record can’t be flattered by skipping bad days.

Subscriptions & billing

Subscriptions & billing

What does it cost?

Weekly $9.95 AUD billed every 7 days, Monthly $29.95 AUD billed every 30 days (~$6.90/wk), or Annual $249 AUD billed every 12 months (~$4.79/wk, roughly half the weekly rate). All three plans get exactly the same Saturday tip card at the same time — the only difference is what you pay per week. No premium tier, no exclusive picks for VIP members.

Can I switch plans?

Yes, any time from your Account page. Switch between weekly, monthly, and annual whenever you like. The switch takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you won't be double-charged.

How do I cancel?

One click on your Account page. No calls, no retention dance. Cancellation is immediate — you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.

Do you offer refunds?

No refunds on started billing periods, but cancellation takes effect instantly so you won’t be charged again. The results page and method page are free to read in full before you subscribe — that’s the audit.

Methodology

Methodology

Is this AI, a model, or a human picking?

A rating model does the picking. A 5-signal weighted composite scores every runner on the metro cards, and the same gating rules decide which runners get published. The founder reviews the output end-to-end, but the model isn’t ornamental — if the gate says no, nothing ships regardless of gut feel.

What data goes into the model?

Five signals computed by us: speed (from sectionals), form (last-three finishes, days since, class trend), class & weight, connections (jockey/trainer strike rates), and track & barrier suitability. Form history comes from our own Racing Australia scrape; sectionals from Punters Plus; market prices from TAB’s fixed-odds API (Betfair as fallback). No vendor rating sits in the formula — we don’t use Punting Form’s PFAI score, we don’t use Racenet, we don’t use anyone else’s black-box model. Settlement results are pulled from PF within 24h. See the method page for the exact weights.

How do you settle wins and losses?

At the market price stamped on the tip card — not best-available, not closing-line value. Scratched runners are marked void. Official stewards’ results are the source of truth, pulled within 24 hours of each race. Each-way bets are split into win and place legs and settled independently.

Why don’t you guarantee winners?

Because nobody honest in racing can. We look for bets priced better than they should be — over hundreds of those, the math produces a positive expected return. Any individual Saturday can go either way, and a bad three-month stretch is mathematically possible even with a real edge.

Are you going to add more signals?

Yes. Track bias, rail position and a second market source (Sportsbet or Ladbrokes) are on the 3-to-6-month roadmap. When they ship, the method page will change on the same day — we won’t retroactively claim we already had them.

Responsible gambling

Responsible gambling

Is this legal in Australia?

The Betting Syndicate is an information service — we don’t accept bets and never touch your money. You place your wagers through licensed Australian wagering operators. Service is for Australian residents 18 and over.

How do I bet sensibly?

Only bet what you can afford to lose. Treat it as entertainment with a small long-run edge. Set a unit size at 1–2% of a bankroll you’ve decided in advance, and stick to it whether you’re winning or losing. Never chase. The method page walks through the staking rules we actually use.

What if gambling is becoming a problem?

Please contact Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858 (24/7, free, confidential) or visit gamblinghelponline.org.au. You can also self-exclude from Australian wagering operators through BetStop. There is no shame in stepping away.
