Frequently asked
Four sections — the tips, the billing, the method, and responsible gambling. If anything below reads like corporate waffle, tell us and we’ll fix it.
The tips
Whatever the model gates through — typically 1–3 Best Bets across the metro meetings on any given Saturday. We cap at three per day regardless of how many qualify. If nothing passes the gate on a given meeting, you get nothing for that meeting, not filler.
Published Friday evening AEST, in your inbox and your dashboard at the same time. Occasionally we hold a late release if track conditions flip on race morning — you’ll still have them well before first race.
The runner, our model’s fair-price estimate, the TAB market price at publish time, the edge percentage, a bet type (win or each-way), a unit size, the walk-away price below which you should skip the leg, and the model reasons that surfaced the pick. No star ratings, no mystique.
Australian thoroughbred Saturdays — the metro cards at Randwick, Rosehill, Flemington, Caulfield, Moonee Valley, Doomben, Eagle Farm, Morphettville and Ascot. No greyhounds, no harness, no international meetings. No midweek product today; that may change once the Saturday record earns the right.
Yes, subject to the gate. If none of the Saturday runners qualify as a Best Bet, nothing ships — and that no-ship is logged publicly too, so the record can’t be flattered by skipping bad days.
Subscriptions & billing
Weekly $9.95 AUD billed every 7 days, or Monthly $29.95 AUD billed every 30 days (roughly $6.90 a week). Both plans get exactly the same tip card at the same time — the monthly plan is just cheaper per week.
Yes, any time from your Account page. The switch takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You won’t be double-charged.
One click on your Account page. No calls, no retention dance. Cancellation is immediate — you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
No refunds on started billing periods, but cancellation takes effect instantly so you won’t be charged again. The results page and method page are free to read in full before you subscribe — that’s the audit.
Methodology
A rating model does the picking. An 8-signal weighted composite scores every runner on the metro cards, and the same gating rules decide which runners get published. The founder reviews the output end-to-end, but the model isn’t ornamental — if the gate says no, nothing ships regardless of gut feel.
Punting Form API data — past performance, PFAI ratings, sectionals, trainer and jockey form, barrier, weight, class history — plus live TAB fixed-odds at publish time. No insider data, no informant picks. See the method page for the exact weights sitting in the code.
At the market price stamped on the tip card — not best-available, not closing-line value. Scratched runners are marked void. Official stewards’ results are the source of truth, pulled within 24 hours of each race. Each-way bets are split into win and place legs and settled independently.
Because nobody honest in racing can. We look for bets priced better than they should be — over hundreds of those, the math produces a positive expected return. Any individual Saturday can go either way, and a bad three-month stretch is mathematically possible even with a real edge.
Yes. Track bias, rail position and a second market source (Sportsbet or Ladbrokes) are on the 3-to-6-month roadmap. When they ship, the method page will change on the same day — we won’t retroactively claim we already had them.
Responsible gambling
The Betting Syndicate is an information service — we don’t accept bets and never touch your money. You place your wagers through licensed Australian wagering operators. Service is for Australian residents 18 and over.
Only bet what you can afford to lose. Treat it as entertainment with a small long-run edge. Set a unit size at 1–2% of a bankroll you’ve decided in advance, and stick to it whether you’re winning or losing. Never chase. The method page walks through the staking rules we actually use.
Please contact Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858 (24/7, free, confidential) or visit gamblinghelponline.org.au. You can also self-exclude from Australian wagering operators through BetStop. There is no shame in stepping away.
